Work Experience at the Environmental Science Department at Lancaster University

Work Experience is an integral part of the National Curriculum in Britain.
This involves 5th and 6th form students in secondary school working in a professional
environment for two weeks. Lancaster University's Environmental Science Department accommodates a very limited number of work experience students each year. The department aims to provide students with a balance of practical work and Information Technology training.

The following students have visited Lancaster University's Environmental Science Department for their Work Experience and have written reports :

  • Georgina Weatherill, 2nd to 12th May 2000, trainee Meteorological Observer
  • James Bellamy, 9th to 20th October 2000, trainee Meteorological Observer
  • Robbie Walsh, 14th to 20th October 2000, trainee Laboratory Technician
  • Daniel Blanche, 16th – 27th May 2005, trainee Laboratory Technician and Meteorological Observer

If you are interested in carrying out your work experience in the Environmental Science Department, please contact Vicky Burnett, tel: 01524 593947.

NB: Please note that we require a minimum of 4 weeks' notice to set up a work placement, and that numbers are limited
