Geochemistry of magmas

Our research addresses the origin and evolution of silicic magma in various eruptive environments and includes study of:

  • Pre-eruptive volatile contents in magmas from the Lesser Antilles arc
  • U-series disequilibria and magma residence times in the Kenyan Rift and at Montserrat
  • Experimental generation of arc magmas and peralkaline rhyolites at high pressures and temperatures
  • Petrogenesis of rhyolites from the Kenya Rift Valley
  • Magma degassing during Icelandic subglacial eruptions and at Taupo, New Zealand
