Volcano growth and collapse

Our research uses a variety of approaches to address the construction and stability of volcanic edifices, including:

  • Models of slope stability
  • Monitoring of active domes using ground-based radar
  • Collapse of the lava dome at Montserrat
  • Edifice stability at Teide volcano, Tenerife
  • The 1980 flank collapse of Mount St Helens
