Slugs Events October 09 – April 10

24th – 25th October: Peak District Weekend

A weekend based at Bill and Elen’s near Leek (overlooking The Roaches) with opportunities for climbing, walking, biking, or just socialising.  Plenty of floor-space (or camp in the field).                                                                                       Contact: Bill and Elen on 01538  300028  BillBoley at aol.com

Saturday 21st November: Mountain Biking from Slaidburn

Cycle Salter Fell, off-road from Slaidburn to Wray. Return journey is quiet moorland roads. Not too technical, but long hills. (You need a mountain bike and a bit of stamina) Come back to Ken and Anne’s afterwards for food. Bad weather alternative will be to whizz round the new single-track stuff at Gisburn Forest. (Routes there for all abilities if you’d like to come out for the day but don’t fancy a long ride over Salter Fell).                                                                                                                         Contact: Ken and Anne on 01200  425841daykin at talktalk.net

Saturday 12th December: More mountain biking

We can't go cycling on 6th December after all - we're away that weekend - so it has been moved to the following weekend:Saturday 12th December. Hope you can still make it!    Thanks, Anne and Ken                                                Contact: Ken and Anne as above

And Later next year:

Summer 2010: Tresviso and the Picos de Europa

This may seem a long way off to notoriously-noncommital Slugs, but plans are afoot for a two week holiday in Tresviso. This is not about caving (though that’s always an option!) nor is it about reunions and nostalgia. It’s simply a beautiful place with lots of opportunity for outdoor activity: walking and scrambling, biking and climbing, visiting the coast, or strolling to the bar. It’s five years since the last one, and a great sociable holiday.                                                                                                 Carolyn has offered to handle the organising with the village. Options are probably camping (on top of the hill, without cows or their residue this time), youth hostel, bunkhouse, or hotel. We're looking at the first two weeks of August, to coincide with the fiesta.                                                                                                                   Let Phil and Rosie know if you think you might want to come along.
