Travel by car:
Coming from Germany: Highway Basel (or Zurich) - St. Gotthard - Bellinzona - Lugano or Lake of Constance/Bregenz - Chur - San Bernardino - Bellinzona - Lugano both with exit Lugano Nord.
Follow the signposts for St.-Moritz, drive along the shore of Lake Lugano, crossing the Swiss-Italian border in Gandria, then passing Porlezza in the direction to Menaggio. At the first street-crossing after the sign Menaggio turn to the left following the indication Loveno and the brown signposts Villa Vigoni. Villa Vigoni is 150 m. away from the church of Loveno, where parking is possible. Lugano is about 26 kms. from Menaggio.
Coming from Italy: Take the highway “Milano Laghi” from Milan to Chiasso/Switzerland, exit Como Nord, then follow the indication for Menaggio.
Arriving at Menaggio (traffic light) keep straight on in the direction to Lugano, then at the first street crossing turn to the right, following the indication for Loveno and the brown signposts Villa Vigoni. Como is about 30 kms. from Menaggio.
Travel by Train
Lugano is the nearest railway station for trains coming from Germany. The EC/IC trains to and from Germany via Basel or Zurich run several times a day. Menaggio can be reached by bus (SPT): the bus station Campo Marzio-Cassarate is rather far from the railway station, so you should preferably take a taxi to get there. There are two possibilities to get from Milan to Como: either with the national railway company (F.S.) from the Central Station of Milan to Como S. Giovanni or with the private line Ferrovie Nord Milano (FNM) from the station in Piazza Cadorna, Milan, to Como Lago Nord. From both stations in Como you can take the bus to Menaggio or you can reach Menaggio by hydrofoil leaving from the landing-stage in Piazza Cavour.
Travel by plane
The nearest airports are Milan-Malpensa, Milan-Linate, Bergamo ("Orio al Serio") and Lugano-Agno (Switzerland).
From the new airport Malpensa 2000 you can take the bus to Menaggio/Como.
From the airport Milan-Linate to the Central Station of Milan you can take the shuttle running every 20 minutes. For Railway and bus time-table call tel. 0039/0344/361232 or see above. From the airport Bergamo "Orio al Serio" you can take a bus to Bergamo Central Station. Trains from Bergamo to Como (travel time: about 1,5 hours) or from Bergamo to Varenna-Esino (via Lecco) (travel time: about 1,5 hours). At Varenna take a ferry-boat to Menaggio (travel time: about 15 minutes).
